Meet Alyx

I have years of experience working with various populations, from adult addiction treatment centres and therapeutic campus-based treatment for kids, to working with individuals with brain injuries or developmental disabilities. I never stop learning to improve my competence and to help people heal.

From an early age, I’ve been committed to improving the lives of those around me; whether it was resolving playground conflicts, supporting suicide awareness initiatives in high school, or making a direct impact on the front lines over the past nine years. Along the way, I’ve also prioritized working on my own mental health, which has deepened my empathy and understanding in supporting others.

I began my academic journey at the University of Lethbridge, studying Fine Arts with the intention of becoming an art teacher. However, a single addiction counselling elective sparked a passion for mental health, leading me to transfer into the Addictions Counselling and Mental Health program. I graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the U of L and, after gaining valuable work experience, pursued and earned a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with Honours from Yorkville University. This combination of personal growth, education, and professional experience has shaped my dedication to fostering mental well-being in others.

A Safe Place to Start

Taking this significant step in your healing journey requires great courage, and I truly appreciate and admire your willingness to embrace it. Like many others, you may find it difficult to be vulnerable and lean on others for support, even as you work to manage your emotions and experiences independently. I'm here to remind you that you are not alone on this journey. I aim to empower individuals by helping them strive for self-acceptance, navigate challenges, harness their strengths, and find inner peace.

I am prepared to assist with issues related to addictions, anxiety, anger, depression, stress, grief, trauma, self-esteem, identity, embracing spirituality & self-compassion. I am always open to incorporating art or play therapy—whether it’s for your child, your teenager, or to help you reconnect with your inner child.

Again, I truly respect the step that you are taking today, and if you believe that we may be a good therapeutic fit, I encourage you to reach out. Take care, and I wish you well on your healing journey.
